Well, Mindy commented that I should be posting more about my crazy bike rides and some of the fun things I've been doing... oh yeah... and the falls.... so... I'm a bit of a klutz... and when I hang out with my friend Brandon, he's VERY encouraging, always cheering me on, pushing me to do a little more, go a little farther, step out of my comfort zone a little... which is great, cuz it means I am doing way more than I ever have... but it occasionally leads to a good accident or fall or something else! Its lots of fun, and I laugh a lot, and usually walk away with a few bruises and bumps, but no major injuries (cuz apparently i'm VERY flexible, which I never really knew, but I can bend and roll with the best of them! LOL).
last week, one day, I went for a night ride with Brandon, and my judgment might have been slightly impaired, because I had splurged and had a couple of drinks that night.... but at one point he jumped a curb from the parking lot into the grass to get to the sidewalk... now, until this last month, I haven't owned or ridden a bike since I was a teenager, so over 15 years ago! but Brandon was the cheerleader he always is, and said I could do it... I had been scared to try a little tiny curb, about 3 inches, a few days before that, and i had made it, so he was sure I could do this one, even though it was twice as high and therefore couldnt just be ridden over, actually required getting the front tire off the ground! which I apparently cannot do! so i decided to try it, but I didnt have enough momentum, and I pulled up on the handlebars a little too soon... and smack! that tire hit that curb straight on, and came to a dead stop, and I did NOT! I flew forward, pulling the bike with me, and literally landed face down, face first, in the grass! my legs were tangled in the bike, my glasses were in the grass, and bent, my hands were still on the handlebars! not sure how that happened! Brandon had to come back and help untangle me from the bike, cuz I was not capable of moving, I was laughing so hard! got up, brushed off the dirt, wiped the grass stains from my cheeks, and was none the worse for the wear! luckily, Brandon was a gentleman and didnt start laughing until after he had helped me up from the ground and made sure I was ok! which is impressive since I couldnt stop laughing!
I've had some fun time, and some fun falls... some long bike rides that left me hobbling for the next day or two (darn knees werent happy with me), but some awesome rides, and I've made such a huge improvement in how much I can do, how far I can ride, and how many hills I can ride up and not die! so its been lots of fun :)
well, there's my update for the week (or month, since I've been a little slow at posting lately!). I will work on getting here and posting far more often, but I am reading regularly and I love seeing how great you all are doing and how much you are losing!
